How we collect, use, and protect your information under India's DPDP Act, 2023.
Last updated: 7 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how UNIQUE PREP ACADEMY(“we”, “us”) handles your personal data when you use UNIQUE. We act as a Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”).
1. Data we collect
- Account identifiers: your phone number (for OTP sign-in), your email address and a securely hashed password (for email sign-in), or your Google account email (for Google sign-in).
- Study data: bookmarks, flags, and progress you create while using the Service.
- Payment metadata: a record that a payment succeeded and the plan purchased. Your full card details are handled by the payment gateway and are not stored by us.
- Device & log data: device identifiers and basic technical information (device type, approximate region, error logs) needed to operate and secure the Service, including enforcement of the one-active-device policy.
2. Purposes of processing
- to authenticate you and keep your account secure;
- to save and sync your study progress;
- to process Premium purchases and provide support;
- to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service, and to prevent fraud and misuse.
3. Legal basis and consent
We process your personal data on the basis of the consent you give when you sign up, and for certain legitimate uses recognised by the DPDP Act, such as providing the service you have requested. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us; withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out, and may mean we can no longer provide parts of the Service that depend on that data.
4. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with processors who help us run UNIQUE, under contractual safeguards:
- our payment gateway, to process ₹ payments;
- our authentication/OTP provider, to sign you in;
- Google, if you choose Google sign-in;
- our hosting and infrastructure providers.
Some providers may store or process data on servers located outside India, as permitted under the DPDP Act. We may also disclose data where required by law or lawful government request.
5. Cookies and local storage
We use strictly necessary cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use them for third-party advertising.
6. Retention
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations. On account closure we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
7. Your rights under the DPDP Act
- access a summary of the personal data we hold about you;
- request correction or erasure of your personal data;
- nominate another person to exercise your rights in specified cases;
- raise a grievance and have it addressed in a time-bound manner.
8. Grievance Officer
In accordance with the DPDP Act, you may contact our Grievance Officer for any data-protection concern:

9. Children
The Service is intended for individuals capable of consenting under applicable law. Where a user is a child, processing is undertaken only with verifiable parental or guardian consent, and we do not engage in behavioural tracking or targeted advertising directed at children.
10. Security and breach notification
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; in the event of a personal data breach we will notify affected users and the authorities as required under applicable law.
